On behalf of my family, I am writing to commend Justina Charles for the care and concern she took to ensure my father's safety on May 7.
As I am sure you know, on May 7, my father was brought to the hotel by the Highway Patrol after an accident. Because my father, in what was likely a confused state, had refused medical treatment, the Highway Patrol was going to leave him at the hotel, but Ms. Charles recognized my father needed medical treatment and convinced him to let her son, an off-duty paramedic, check him out.
My father was eventually airlifted from the local hospital to Salt Lake City where he is still recovering from a traumatic brain injury.
Ms. Charles also held on to some of my father's valuables, including a significant amount of cash, which she gave to my sister a few days later.
While it's not clear yet whether my father will recover - he's been in and out of the lCU, and recovery will take months - the staff at the lntermountain Health Center where my father was flown to has told us that Ms. Charles actions almost certainly saved my father's life, and for that we are immensely grateful.
